this is some crazy shit.

Your art style sort of reminds me of John K. (the guy what made Ren and Stimpy), and I also like the mixture of surreal/dark humour and horror. While I can relate to the disdain for freshmen, where I'm from, they're a lot cockier than the ones in this flash. I guess that's for comedy purposes though. I look forward to seeing further installments of your deranged work!

Alpha-Nuva responds:

Yeah, we had an EXTREMELY loose interpretation of cliques in high school here. Background characters served more as thoughtless fillers rather than reflections of the cliques and social ranks in high school. Just like you said, freshmen are way more cocky and way less innocent than we made them. Glad you pointed it out.

well-drawn, but lacks substance.

While the art style and animation in this flash is surprisingly good for a first animation, there is no plot and nothing interesting happens, aside from the looping animation of Goku and Frieza shooting those laser things (Kamehameha things, or whatever) at each other. I know from experience that when you first use Flash, it's difficult to make a decent cartoon, but it gets much easier with practice. I'd recommend that you practice more of the basics of Flash animation before you make another movie to upload to Newgrounds.

Ozzycris responds:

thanks for the coment, and yeah I know, Im gona practice and I will make better animations :)

Incredible!

A truly witty and relevant take on the "Nyan Cat" phenomenon, accompanied with excellent verse on par with Walt Whitman. However, although the powerful use of cadence is staggering, the content somewhat falls short artistically. This is covered up, though, with an impressive array of visual effects. Overall, a great contribution to Newgrounds!

As valid as the message is, this is hardly a flash

I agree with the message of this flash and everything, but as a flash movie, it's just not very good. It's only a static image and a text-to-speech voice. I've seen some informative flash movies, and they usually have at least a little more effort put into it than this. Maybe you could add some graphics showing visually what's being talked about, or have some charts or something. It's good that you're informing people about this stuff, though.

Thanks for your input.

That was great!

I really liked how most of Fisthead's body parts could transform into fists. Also, it was funny how the villain ws a mere pinata. The animation style, particularly the large amounts of violence sort of reminded me of Superjail. The music was perfect for this movie, and basically everything's good except for the large file size. Is there some reason for that? Was this made with something other than flash, and then converted to a .swf file? Otherwise, great job!

LordSpew responds:

It is photoshop backgrounds and flash animation with video editing in Premier and After Effects. Then I brought it back into flash to turn into a swf That's why the file ended up being large I believe. But thanks on all the other counts!

I liked the use of stop-motion

It sort of reminded me of those animations painted on walls that blu makes. The camerawork was pretty shaky, though, and I didn't really like the music that went along with it. Still, I'd like to see what else you can do with this interesting technique!

That was realy neat!

I haven't seen the first Tale of Bjorn flash, but judging from this one, I think it's supposed to be a parody of those ancient epics I was forced to read in English class, or maybe the fantasy genre or something. Either way, this is a very clever take on those sorts of things. The paper doll-type style of the animation is pretty unique, but it could stand to be a little more dynamic. I know the story is supposed to be the focus and not the graphics, but sometimes not very much happens on the screen for a while, and I get kind of bored with that. Also the voice-acting is good and funny.

that was a really good movie.

Although I'm not into Japanese music stuff, I really liked the animation and art style in this flash. Everything looks so smooth and so clean, and yet also like the illustrations in a children's book. Also, if it was any cuter than it already was, my eyeballs probably would've imploded. I found the whole flash movie strangely uplifting, and the music was the only thing keeping this from being a perfect 10.

You've got potential, but this could be better.

The image quality was really bad, and as such everything was all pixelated and blurry. The action scenes (which was pretty much the whole movie) were slow and tedious, but a higher framerate would've fixed that. The animation itself was kind of jerky, and that drumming in the background was a little off at times, but the concept seems pretty interesting.

RedBungie responds:

I haven't found a way to get the file size small enough with leaving the quality up, my camera records in HD, but it means nothing compared to a 10 mb limit, I'm going to put the better quality vids on youtube, and work on getting the file size down small enough to fit
