This is actually pretty good for a first Flash. You use more frame-by-frame stuff than a lot of Flash animators do, including myself! The lack of sound, though, might make some people lose interest in it. As this Flash movie has no dialogue, you could add in appropriate sound effects or maybe some background music.

The premise itself was pretty funny but the animation was kind of jerky-looking. Also I didn't think the "I reeeeeeally like dolphins" thing was worth repeating. The audio was pretty quiet.

happymushroom responds:

thanks! i guess i should spend more time on making fluent animation. the "I reeeeeeally like dolphins" thing was i bad idea i admit. as for being quiet i think thats a easy problem to solve. i will do better next time.

I really liked the general style of this flash, but at some points the words go by too quickly. Also it would have been a little more interesting if there was some music in the background. Some old piano music, like maybe something by Claude Debussy, would have gone well with this style of animation.

Oh, wow, that was a really funny twist on this whole Kony thing. I just wonder why there was no gunshot-sound preceding the little girl scream.

Well, I can see it was lazily created, but this was generally pretty funny. It was also a nice touch to have the shadows in the montage scene; I have a feeling most people wouldn't have bothered to add that.

LasciviousGork responds:

I chose to go walk the comedy route instead of the "physically appealing" route. Even though I made it pretty rough looking I actually like my lazy-drawn style and for my first real animation I'm surprised I made it look this decent. Thanks for the criticism!

The music was good, and the animation wasn't bad, but there isn't very much going on visually. It's mostly just this one walking cycle. The art/animation style I think only kind of reflected the common styles of the 20s; during that time, the "rubber hose" style of animation was very popular and this flash, by comparison, is a lot stiffer. Still pretty good though.

That was great! I didn't even know it was his birthday, and I was also doubting if Sobe Day was an actual thing.

Pop-Tart responds:

SoBe Day will be an actual thing. And they will look back and say Pop and Wob started it all.. And we shall be worshiped.

Did I say worshiped? I meant horsewhipped.

10 years of B! 10 years of B! So amazing!

Well BB10, I'm very happy to see that you've finally gotten flash, and can make something special for the 10th annual Clock Day. However I can see that you have yet to fully get the hang of this program. For example, the art is made mostly of simple shapes and RGB-type colours, with very little shading or detail. Also, the 'close-ups' and scene transitions are a bit dodgy. Not mention you misspelled "StrawberryClock" as "StrawberryCock" several times. Still, this movie (perhaps due to the very flaws I just mentioned) has a certain charm to it, and your heart's definitely in the right place.

Excellent misdirection styles!

This was pretty funny, and there was excellent use of fbf animation. I also think this was an interesting take on the given theme; I just saw another flash movie where it was done more literally, and I didn't like it as much. About four years ago, when I was just learning how to be funny, I learned about the different techniques of comedy, and I think this type was called 'misdirection'. I usually don't find comedy based around conventions particularly funny, but this was pretty good!

That barely even looks like a pineapple.

However, this flash gets my approval for two reasons: this music and the fact that the Socom Squad is one of the few ripoff-style spam crews I like. Could you tell me what song that is? Also, I could've sworn I'd registered on the SocomSquids forums as "BlueberrySocom" like a month before it shut down.

PineappleSocom responds:

Many of the most notable art-historical trends have relied heavily on stylized representations that rely on the viewers' neurological capacity for discerning seemingly unrecognizable objects.
